Thank goodness Clarence is here to tell us in his own words....
In my first blog entry, I stated my reason for launching the Side Niche Blog. I have a confession to make----there are other reasons.
My career in the music business (career may be too strong of a word) started somewhere between the "phase out" of Lp's and the launch of the “CD” configuration. Sometime in 2000, I decided to challenge my "creative side" = love of music with a brief stint in the mobile communication industry.
Today, I still have an “ear” for music but it is coupled with a strong fascination in emerging technologies. (Blame it on my kids?) No.
The changes that we are witnessing in the music and communication industries are happening at “warped” speed(or faster).
My children aren’t aware of terms such as: Lp’s vinyl, cassettes, albums, and soon to be added cd’s. Almost every other week, my daughter asks me to tell her about what “things” I owned when I was her age. Did I have color TVs? Did I have a remote control? Did I have a “dial” telephone?(Here’s and idea, maybe if I take back my “I Love Lucy” DVD set she’ll stop asking these questions)
When James Brown passed, both of my children were excited to inform me of their current event topic from school “James Brown wrote a song about living in America”. This made me think.
Who will tell the story of the “ living legends” that operate behind the scenes(sometimes in front too), and helped pave the way for my entry and many, many others into the music business?
I started this blog because I wanted to tell their story. (Why past tense?) They should tell the story firsthand. (Look at the Princess Di story, will we ever know the truth?)
